Melville house is a delightful home-away-from-home with unique character. I booked just for an overnight stay but still was given an upgrade after a cancellation to a lovely room with charming decor, luxurious bed and garden views. Very quiet. I was sorry I didn't have time to make use of the pool and other facilities, they looked inviting.. Helen was a welcoming, and helpful host and easy to communicate with. I recommend Melville House and will stay there again.read more

What a jewel of a place! Melville house is many things: welcoming, quirky, affordable, friendly, fun and beautiful. We had the most wonderful stay here with our dog June. Charles the owner was lovely, easy going and communicative. We enjoyed swimming in the deep and luxurious pool, and June sniffing about in the spacious garden. It's hard to find quality dog friendly accommodation and this place does not disappoint. We look forward to coming back.read more

We stayed in the upstairs room with ensuite. Clean and very large. Old world style, cool half spiral staircase, marble bathroom. 1930s style but in pretty good condition. Pool, massive garden and large lounge area. Simple breakfast was cereal/toast with tea and plunger or Moccona coffee. Suited us. Good value.read more

The only problem is that the surrounding houses are not prominently numbered and it is on a main road, so if you miss it, which is easy to do especially in the dark, it's a bit tricky getting back. Worth it though, the room was spacious and comfortable, the owner was friendly and helpful, and the price was excellent value. Do recommend.read more

I loved Melville House, and will be coming back as soon as I can. After a long drive, MH was like finding a desert oasis. This historical house was just so so warm, and welcoming. I found the surroundings reminded me of visiting my Grandparents, this just truly a gem. I woke up refreshed, and calm ready for another long day ahead on the road.The location on the Ballina Road, makes it a little loud, but the room was well insulated and i forgot the noice in quick time.read more

We have had such an amazing stay at Melville, Mike and Charles was extremely accommodating to our family of 5's needs and last minute booking. They were able to fit us all in and the rooms were lovely. The pool was a huge hit with our boys but a welcome escape from the heat for us also. The rooms were beautiful, so clean and beds super comfy. I will definitely be staying here next time we are back on the east coast. Had a beautiful large pet friendly suite for two nights while attending a medical appointment in Lismore. The suite was huge and everything was very clean. Our little dachshund was made very welcome and we were able to come and go with her without any fuss. The grounds and pool area are beautiful. Mike was so welcoming and very easy to deal with. Very close to the Lismore hospital and not far from the centre of town. Lots to choose from for breakfast. Will be our first choice if we are back in Lismore, thanks Mikeread more

I had no idea where to stay in Lismore for some work at nearby SCU and plucked Melville House out of a number of options. I was really happy with the choice and glad I went there for the evening. Staff were really helpful and my room was much bigger and more well presented than I had expected. It was a genuine old-school B&B experience and very quiet given it's located on the main road into town. Highly recommended.read more
