Please read the nice things people say about our beautiful accommodation!
I will forever remember the many stays I had and the friendship that formed with delightful Helen & Family. I am sure I can lay claim to being amongst the longer term residents. It became like a mini-community with regulars coming & going over a period of about three years. I personally could not have retained any form of sanity without the homely surrounding, wonderful hosts and friends along the way.
I highly recommend this value for money
I have travelled here every year since 2005 to attend workshops at Southern Cross University. It's just like my home away from home. Within walking distance to the university, it's hard to pass up the clean large suite size rooms, the beautiful silver service breakfast that the hostess Helen cooks personally for you, whilst engaging in wonderfully welcoming conversation. Every morning commences with a swim in the inground swimming pool, whilst every evening is spent relaxing out the back with a nice red. Helen is very helpful and accomadating. It saddens me that I will complete my degree next year and will no longer have an excuse to be pampered...
I highly recommend this value for money B & B as the best place to stay in Lismore....
Beautiful old Lismore home
Melville house is a great place to stay in Lismore, reasonable rates, warm & welcoming environment, close to Uni, and have always met very interesting, friendly folks staying there! Helen is a great host & the brekky is excellent, along w the conversation from other guests! I would recommend - much nicer than a cold heartless motel room & there are a range of rooms - depending upon your budget & taste. Beautiful old Lismore home & v friendly dog & owners.
Melville House was a great find
While looking for accommodation in Lismore at the beginning of the year a friend who had stayed here before recommended it too me.
For someone like me that has to travel a lot with work and only gets back home on weekends a place like Melville House was a great find. Helen is a delightful and friendly person who is always willing to help out. The rooms are quite spacey and comfortable and the breakfasts are great.
Each time work has taken me up this way I've taken the opportunity to stay here.
Nothing was to much trouble
We stayed at Melville from the 12th Nov to 15th along with some cousins and aunt & uncle we all found it outstanding with a beautiful hostess by the name of Helen. Rooms were clean and bed very comfortable breakfast perfect and nothing was to much trouble. Back yard and pool came in very handy for the lovely warm days. Dog was never a problem she is no spring chicken so slept alot. I have read some of the negative reviews and feel these people would always complain wherever they stayed. There is no doubt that we will stay at Melville again. Thankyou Helen we enjoyed every moment.
The accommodation was amazing
The accommodation was amazing, the rooms are spacey, yet have a feel like you are still at home. We found the beds comfortable, and easy to sleep in. There is some beautiful artwork up throughout the house that adds a certain atmosphere for your stay. As soon as we arrived we were welcomed into a warm caring environment, the host is very kind and very knowledgeable on Lismore.
I found that the grounds were peaceful and nice to eat meals by. There was also a formal dining room which looked nice to have meals with the family on a special occassion. Every morning we were greeted to a humble breakfast, that was delicious and quite filling.
The pool was fun! It has a diving board at the deep end and well placed steps at the shallow end as to make it more friendly towards younger children. There was also sn bathing chairs located around the pool allowing one to relax after a swim or whilst others swim.
I found the dog was quite friendly and peaceful. She was happy to just lie next to us as we enjoyed breakfast looking at the gardens and chatting. She added a level of company that you miss sometimes you stay at a Hotel.
All in all i would rate Melville House 5/5 and definitely advise it to any acquaintances looking at travelling down Lismore's direction. If we get the opportunity again we would definitely stay at Melville House again. It was our home away from home.
Very warm welcome
Very warm welcome, great breakfast, fast internet, a good bed and a very attractive garden to enjoy through my window as the weather was rather wet.
The room was very good
Stayed at the Melville House earlier this month. The room was very good, with all comforts. Their garden is lovely and they were planning to build a gazebo by the swimming pool. There are quite a few good paintings inside, ghood taste. Breakfast was very good too and I shared the table with a few interesting people. Helen, the host, is very kind, she even offered to drive me to the airport the morning I left! You don't find this very often.
Most amazing full length pool
We visit Lismore every year and this was our second stay at Melville House Lismore. Helen and Rex your hosts are the warmest and most welcoming people you will meet.
There are a choice of wonderful accommodation options from rooms - suites - whole houses. We stay in the main house in a spacious older style suite full of charm and character which provides for all our needs. There are other ultra modern options depending on taste. We also love being made to feel a part of the family and breakfast is one of the high points. The cooked breakfast and array of cereals and fruit is surpassed only by the chatter of excited guests and host interacting like long standing friends.
The main house has the most amazing full length pool and the new pergola is a terrific addition. We sat with new friends over wine and pizza through into the late evening on our third night. We consider this to be the only place to stay in Lismore.
Very pleasant surrounds
Melville house is an absolute gem. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome and right at home. The standard of accommodation is high. The atmosphere is fantastic and the very pleasant surrounds especially the beautiful pool and gardens are a welcome asset on a visit to a hot inland town such as Lismore in January. Helen is an excellent host who takes the trouble to meeet all her guests needs.
The cooked breakfasts daily were a treat and the run of what is a very comfortable home was much appreciated.I would highly recommend Melville House to travellers to Lismore for pleasure or business.
